Minecraft 1.21 'Tricky Trials': Everything New
Trial Chambers, the Mace, the Breeze, auto-crafting and more — a rundown of everything the 1.21 update added.
The 1.21 "Tricky Trials" update added a whole new dungeon, a powerful weapon and long-awaited auto-crafting. Here's what's new.
Trial Chambers & the Mace
The headline feature is the Trial Chamber — a copper-and-tuff dungeon built around Trial Spawners and Vaults. Beat the waves, collect Trial Keys, and open vaults for loot including the Heavy Core, used to craft the Mace — a weapon that hits harder the further you fall before landing a blow. Full breakdown in our Trial Chambers guide.
The Breeze & Wind Charges
A bouncy new mob, the Breeze, appears in chambers and fires Wind Charges that knock you around. You can craft Wind Charges too — use them to launch entities, trigger distant redstone, or boost your own jumps.
The Crafter
The Crafter is a redstone-powered auto-crafting block: feed it items and a redstone pulse and it crafts automatically. It finally makes fully automatic factories and farms possible.
New mobs, potions & effects
- Bogged — a mossy skeleton that shoots poison arrows.
- Ominous Trials — harder waves with better loot, triggered by an Ominous Bottle.
- New ominous effects like Wind Charged, Weaving, Oozing and Infested.
