Iron Chests gives you a straightforward upgrade path beyond the wooden chest, with variants based on metals already in the game and varying storage capacities. Custom shulker boxes were split out into a separate mod, Iron Shulker Boxes, so this one covers chests only. It is open source and free to use in any modpack.

How to install Iron Chests
- 1Install NeoForge · Forge for your Minecraft version — Iron Chests supports 1.16.5 – 1.21.11.
- 2Download the Iron Chests .jar from the button above. It is hosted on MineSpecs, so there are no ad-gates or redirects.
- 3Drop the .jar into your .minecraft/mods folder (%appdata%\.minecraft\mods on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods on macOS).
- 4Launch Minecraft using the NeoForge · Forge profile. Iron Chests appears in your mod list once the game loads.
