Spartan Shields turns vanilla's single shield into a full progression, starting with a Crude Wooden Shield you can craft from four planks as soon as you punch trees and moving up through sturdier materials. Tower shield variants accept banners, and a shield bash mechanic works with the vanilla shield plus any modded shield added to the mod's bash tag. The mod is open source under the Apache 2.0 licence.

How to install Spartan Shields

1Install NeoForge · Forge for your Minecraft version — Spartan Shields supports 1.12.2 – 1.20.1.
2Download Needs Ender IO, Botania and Mekanism as well — Spartan Shields depends on it and will not load without it.
3Drop the .jar into your .minecraft/mods folder (%appdata%\.minecraft\mods on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods on macOS).
4Launch Minecraft using the NeoForge · Forge profile. Spartan Shields appears in your mod list once the game loads.
