Soft Voxels Lite
by RRe36
Soft Voxels Lite is RRe36's path-traced pack with the excess removed — real global illumination and voxel-based coloured lighting, budgeted so it stays playable on mid-range hardware instead of being a screenshot-only curiosity. It is one of the more approachable ways to see what path tracing does to Minecraft's lighting. All Rights Reserved, so download it from the official page.
How to install Soft Voxels Lite
- 1Install a shader loader for Minecraft 1.16 – 1.20.1 — Iris (pairs with Sodium) or OptiFine.Soft Voxels Lite is a shaderpack, so it needs a loader to run.

.zipfrom the button above — keep it zipped. RRe36’s licence doesn’t permit re-hosting, so that button takes you to the official modrinth.com page — always the newest build, straight from the author. - 3Drop the .zip into your
.minecraft/shaderpacksfolder (%appdata%\.minecraft\shaderpackson Windows,~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/shaderpackson macOS). - 4Launch the game, open Options → Video Settings → Shaders, and select Soft Voxels Lite.
Performance & what to expect
Soft Voxels Lite is rated medium performance impact. It wants a mid-range dedicated GPU. Drop render distance a few chunks if you fall below 60 FPS. It renders colored lighting and path tracing. The look is semi realistic.
