Minecraft Live September 2026: Everything Announced

As of the morning of 29 September 2026 (UTC), none of the new Minecraft features from the show is in the game. Wilderness Bound, the drop that shipped on 15 September 2026, is the newest content you can play. Minecraft Dungeons II, a separate game and the first place to visit the Sift, has a release date of 29 September 2026.

Coming in 2027: the Sift, a fourth dimension

Mojang revealed the Sift on 20 August 2026 as a new dimension in Minecraft Dungeons II. At Live, it confirmed the Sift is also "coming to Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition next year". Mojang calls it "the first new dimension in over 14 years – joining the Overworld, the Nether and the End as our fourth dimension."

The broadcast showed a short glimpse of the Sift in Minecraft and one mob that lives there. The mob is the blub. Mojang already uses that name in Dungeons II, where a Blub pet comes with the Deluxe Edition, and the stream's official audio-description track calls it "a tiny rabbitlike blub".

Mojang has given no date beyond 2027 and no way in. It hasn't named any Sift blocks or items for Minecraft, or said what the blub does there. Block names on fan sites are not official.

Ice caves and a frozen zombie variant

The first look at the next game drop goes underground. In Mojang's words, ice caves are "a new cave biome like the dripstone, lush, and sulfur caves" (the biomes guide covers dripstone caves, lush caves and the deep dark). They are "filled with ice, calcite blocks, and the new icicles and ice crystals". Mojang describes the two new additions like this:

• Icicles grow naturally on cave ceilings.
• Ice crystals grow on the ground and give off a soft light.

The drop will also bring a frozen zombie variant. Mojang says "It doesn't have a name yet", so "frozen zombie" is a description, not its final name. According to Mojang, its hits deal damage and also apply "a freezing effect", and some of them throw ice balls, which Mojang says "really hurt". The Minecraft Wiki's account of the broadcast says this will be a new Freezing effect, which it says will also be brewable as a potion from an ice ball and an Awkward Potion.

The Deep Dig aftershow showed more of the ice caves and the frozen zombie variant in them.

Minecraft Dungeons II (29 September 2026)

Minecraft Dungeons II is the sequel to Minecraft Dungeons. It is a separate dungeon-crawling game, not an update to Minecraft. Mojang set its release for 29 September 2026 on Windows, Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. You can play solo or with up to 3 other players in online or couch co-op.

The show covered what changes from the first game:

• one interconnected world replaces the level-based missions
• you can now jump
• rifts appear across the world, and stepping into one takes you to the Sift
• the illagers have formed an "Illager High Council"

Mojang describes the Sift in Dungeons II as "beautiful, vibrant, and teeming with souls", with areas such as the Meadow and the Carapace. Until it reaches Minecraft in 2027, Dungeons II is the only place to explore it.

Minecraft World opens in London in 2027

Mojang and Merlin Entertainments gave an update on Minecraft World, the themed land first announced at Minecraft Live in March 2026. It opens at Chessington World of Adventures Resort, London, in 2027, and has two headline pieces:

• The Minecraft World Hotel, which Mojang calls the world's first Minecraft World Hotel, with a deep-sea diner, themed rooms and the chance to "mingle with mobs".
• Escape the Nether, which Mojang calls "the world's first Minecraft rollercoaster". It runs "both indoors and outdoors".

Wilderness Bound and the Camp Out challenge

Wilderness Bound (Java 26.3, Bedrock 26.50) came out on 15 September 2026. During the show, Game Director Agnes Larsson recapped it and showed community builds that turned cushions into a monorail, pillars and ladders. A cushion is an entity, not a block, and it can overlap other objects, but not other cushions. For the full change list, read the 26.3 Wilderness Bound breakdown. Mojang set the Camp Out community challenge to run from 26 September 2026 into early October. Its pages give the end as both 1 October and Friday 2 October 2026, at 10 AM PT. Players were asked to place 50 million Straw Beds and 200 million Cushions between them. Mojang's terms say taking part requires Bedrock Edition. Reaching 50% of both targets unlocks two free Character Creator items and a Java skin, and reaching 100% unlocks two more items and a second Java skin.

Everything else from the show

• Creator platform: Mojang's goal is to "lower the barrier for more players to become Minecraft creators" with better tools for making and sharing content. No product or date was given.
• Sound Effects Packs: coming to Minecraft Marketplace, no date.
• Nintendo Switch 2: Minecraft for Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for 27 October 2026, with Vibrant Visuals on by default. Mojang first gave that date on 5 August 2026, and says owners of the Nintendo Switch version will get a digital upgrade path.
• Minecraft Education turned ten.
• Feedback site: feedback.minecraft.net has been redesigned.

When the announced features reach Java

As of 30 September 2026, none of the features announced at this show is in a Java build. The two 26.4 snapshots so far, 26.4-snapshot-1 (22 September) and 26.4-snapshot-2 (29 September), add no items, blocks, mobs, biomes, effects or dimensions over 26.3. 26.3 was the latest release at the time of writing.
