More Mob Variants gives the game's older animals the visual variety newer mobs shipped with - tortoiseshell and gray tabby cats, amber and stormy chickens, ashen and cream cows - along with rarities like a duck chicken or an albino cow in taigas. Variants are stored in NBT so they persist for everyone on a world, and the whole set is data-driven and customisable with datapacks. Install it server-side as well as client-side, though clients without it can still connect.

How to install More Mob Variants

1Install Fabric · Forge for your Minecraft version — More Mob Variants supports 1.19 – 1.21.
2Download Needs Fabric API as well — More Mob Variants depends on it and will not load without it.
3Drop the .jar into your .minecraft/mods folder (%appdata%\.minecraft\mods on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods on macOS).
4Launch Minecraft using the Fabric · Forge profile. More Mob Variants appears in your mod list once the game loads.
