Beds have relied on a block entity renderer since 1.12, a workaround for the old block ID limit that was never revisited after the Flattening. Better Beds swaps it for the ordinary model renderer, which runs faster and lets resource packs retexture beds properly. It is entirely client-side and otherwise behaves like vanilla; Bedspreads is incompatible, modded beds using the default renderer need model files, and beds with custom renderers are left untouched.

How to install Better Beds

1Install Fabric · NeoForge · Quilt for your Minecraft version — Better Beds supports 1.16 – 1.21.4.
2Download Needs Fabric API as well — Better Beds depends on it and will not load without it.
3Drop the .jar into your .minecraft/mods folder (%appdata%\.minecraft\mods on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods on macOS).
4Launch Minecraft using the Fabric · NeoForge · Quilt profile. Better Beds appears in your mod list once the game loads.
