Potato Shaders
by RRe36
Potato Shaders is RRe36 proving a point: you can have waving foliage, decent water and a pleasant sky on a machine that chokes on anything else. It is deliberately minimal, and the trade-offs are chosen well — you lose shadows, you keep atmosphere. For old laptops and integrated graphics it is often the only pack that turns a slideshow back into a game. All Rights Reserved, so download from the official page.
How to install Potato Shaders
- 1Install a shader loader for Minecraft 1.12 – 1.20.1 — Iris (pairs with Sodium) or OptiFine.Potato Shaders is a shaderpack, so it needs a loader to run.
- 2Download the Potato Shaders
.zipfrom the button above — keep it zipped. RRe36’s licence doesn’t permit re-hosting, so that button takes you to the official modrinth.com page — always the newest build, straight from the author. - 3Drop the .zip into your
.minecraft/shaderpacksfolder (%appdata%\.minecraft\shaderpackson Windows,~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/shaderpackson macOS). - 4Launch the game, open Options → Video Settings → Shaders, and select Potato Shaders.
Performance & what to expect
Potato Shaders is rated potato performance impact. It is the lightest tier we host — it runs on integrated graphics and older laptops. It renders bloom and atmosphere. The look is fantasy.
