Spooklementary is a Complementary edit built for atmosphere over accuracy: sickly fog, moody skies, and a colour grade that makes an ordinary forest feel like it is watching you. It became the default pick for spooky-season servers and horror builds, and because it inherits Complementary's engine it stays surprisingly playable. Distributed under the Complementary licence, so we link to the official page.

How to install Spooklementary

  1. 1Install a shader loader for Minecraft 1.7.10 – 26.2 Iris (pairs with Sodium) or OptiFine.Spooklementary is a shaderpack, so it needs a loader to run.
  2. 2Download the Spooklementary .zip from the button above — keep it zipped. SpacEagle17’s licence doesn’t permit re-hosting, so that button takes you to the official modrinth.com page — always the newest build, straight from the author.
  3. 3Drop the .zip into your .minecraft/shaderpacks folder (%appdata%\.minecraft\shaderpacks on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/shaderpacks on macOS).
  4. 4Launch the game, open Options → Video Settings → Shaders, and select Spooklementary.

Performance & what to expect

Spooklementary is rated medium performance impact. It wants a mid-range dedicated GPU. Drop render distance a few chunks if you fall below 60 FPS. It renders atmosphere, reflections and shadows. The look is cursed and fantasy.
