What you need

- Diamond Sword×1
- Netherite Ingot×1

- Not a crafting-grid recipe - the three squares shown are the smithing table's template, base item and addition slots, left to right.
- The diamond sword carries its enchantments, custom name and repair cost through the upgrade, giving 8 attack damage and 2031 durability.
- The template is consumed on every upgrade; find it in bastion remnant chests, or duplicate it with 7 diamonds and 1 netherrack to get 2 back.
- The shape matters but its position does not — this works in any corner of the grid, as long as the arrangement is the same.
