Insanity Shader
by ElocinDev
Insanity is why so many horror-modpack videos look the way they do. ElocinDev strips the world of comfort: heavy desaturation, thick fog that swallows your render distance, and darkness that makes a torch feel like a lifeline. It is aggressively customisable, so you can dial the dread up or down, and it runs well enough to pair with a heavy modpack. Published under the AGNYA licence — download it from the author's page.
How to install Insanity Shader
- 1Install a shader loader for Minecraft 1.7.2 – 1.21.3 — Iris (pairs with Sodium) or OptiFine.Insanity Shader is a shaderpack, so it needs a loader to run.
- 2Download the Insanity Shader
.zipfrom the button above — keep it zipped. ElocinDev’s licence doesn’t permit re-hosting, so that button takes you to the official modrinth.com page — always the newest build, straight from the author. - 3Drop the .zip into your
.minecraft/shaderpacksfolder (%appdata%\.minecraft\shaderpackson Windows,~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/shaderpackson macOS). - 4Launch the game, open Options → Video Settings → Shaders, and select Insanity Shader.
Performance & what to expect
Insanity Shader is rated low performance impact. It is comfortable on entry-level dedicated GPUs at a normal render distance. It renders atmosphere. The look is cursed and fantasy.
