Which items take Respiration

Power window per level

A table roll picks the highest level whose window contains the roll’s modified enchantment level. These are the registry’s min_cost and max_cost, not the level cost shown on the table.

Anvil cost

An anvil charges ×4 per level when Respiration comes from another item and ×2 per level when it comes from a book, so adding Respiration III from a book costs 6 levels before any prior-work penalty. Work out a full combine in the anvil cost calculator.

Command

Hold the item in your main hand and run this with cheats on. /enchant refuses an item that can’t hold Respiration and any level above III.
