How to Find and Raid a Woodland Mansion
Woodland mansions are rare, dangerous, and hide the Totem of Undying. Here's how to find and survive one.
Woodland Mansions are huge structures in Dark Forests, guarded by dangerous mobs and holding the game's best survival item: the Totem of Undying.
How to find one
Mansions are very rare and can be thousands of blocks away. The reliable way:
- 1.Find a Cartographer villager in a village.
- 2.Trade for a Woodland Explorer Map (costs emeralds + a compass).
- 3.The map points you to the nearest mansion — travel there (an Elytra or horse helps a lot).
What's inside
Mansions are patrolled by Illagers:
- Vindicators — axe-wielding melee attackers.
- Evokers — casters that summon Vexes (flying pests) and fang attacks. Killing an Evoker drops a Totem of Undying.
How to survive it
- Bring good armour (Protection), a strong sword, a bow, food and a water bucket.
- Break through walls to explore room by room — mansions have secret rooms with extra loot (diamonds, enchanted gear).
- Fight Evokers up close so they can't summon Vexes freely, and pillar up if surrounded.
TipA Totem of Undying saves you from death once — hold it in your off-hand and it auto-revives you with a burst of health. Grab every one you can.
The loot
Chests hold diamonds, enchanted books, tools and rare decorative blocks. Some seeds spawn a mansion near spawn so you can skip the long trek.
